Careers

Tierra West Appraisal & Land Use Dynamics, Inc. engages the services of talented and experienced State “Licensed” and “Certified” real estate appraisers who exhibit superior skill sets in providing real estate valuation and consulting services. We are dedicated to the highest standards of excellence and integrity and seek like-minded individuals. We offer opportunities for team-oriented self-starters who seek to acquire further experience, knowledge and career growth.

Our client base includes both the private and public sectors that seek accurate and reliable valuation services in a timely and cost efficient manner; typically throughout Southern California. Our firm is often selected for our ability to provide compelling, supportable and industry compliant opinions of value pertaining to complex and unique property interests.

Our Interns or Trainees work alongside senior staff within the mainstream of various valuation and consulting assignments. As a Trainee, your time will likely include participation in market data research, verification of sale and leasing transactions, analysis of market trends, compilation of demographics, interfacing with a wide range of real estate professionals, report writing, and other in-context aspects of real estate valuation and consulting services. An ability to thrive in ambiguity will help, too!

Successful Associates and Trainees that have an active role in our valuation and consulting services typically have the following qualifications:

  • Graduate degree from an accredited college or university
  • English proficiency with strong writing and oral communication skills
  • Proficiency with MS Word and Excel and other Office Suite programs
  • Excellent quantitative, analytic and problem solving ability
  • Able to balance multiple assignments in a demanding and time-sensitive environment
  • Possess a strong interest in real estate valuation, economics, development, demographics and planning

Unfortunately, due to the volume of applicants we simply cannot give informational interviews. If you have a general question about the real estate appraisal profession, we recommend that you check the web sites of the California Office of Real Estate Appraisers, the Appraisal Institute or other credible appraisal organizations. You may submit your resume for review via email to D. Brian Shumway, Pres-CEO at bshumway@tierrawest.com.
